Alabama State Teacher of the Year Visits Westlawn: Ms. Yung Bui Kincer
Pre-K4 & Kindergarten Classes Celebrity Guest Reader
Ms. Celestra Williams, Pre-K4 teacher along with Kindergarten Teachers: Ms. Devie Griffin, Ms. Tiffany Law, Ms. Brandy Cheyette and Ms. Courtney Dinkins students received a special treat when Alabama's State Teacher of the Year, Ms. Yung Thi Bui-Kincer visited Westlawn Elementary School on Thursday morning, October 8th. Ms. Kincher is a 2006 graduate of Auburn University in Montgomery with a Masters of Education, Secondary Education (Biology). She is employed with the Montgomery County School System at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School.
Ms. Kincer was the special Celebrity Guest Reader during National JumpStart's Read for the Record Day. This national event is done to celebrate reading and service and in support of Jumpstart's year-round work in America's preschool. It is also to have an increase of a number of people reading the same book on the same day, October 8th and set a world record.

Ms. Kincer visited each individual Kindergarten teaching unit and read the well-loved book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. The students listen attentatively as Ms. Kincer began reading this classic story. This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which was published in 1969.It is a story about a caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly. A truly perfect story to capture the hearts and minds of everyone.
